I’m going to cheat and answer with two movies, because one ‘made’ me want make movies and the other ’shaped’ the types of stories I want to tell.

I’ve always liked telling stories and I think that originated from watching “Jurassic Park” as a kid. I was big into dinosaurs at the time (3 years old) and that movie propelled my think about these creatures into telling stories about them. After that, “Star Wars” and “The Island” fueled that storytelling, but “Jurassic Park” made it.

Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed” made me think seriously about movies and storytelling. It was the first Scorsese picture I had ever seen, and it’s gritty realism has undoubtably shaped the type of stories I want to tell and how I want to tell them.

    Kyle,

Thank you for commenting on my website. Wow, that’s cool that at the age of 3 the ’storyteller’ seed was planted into you after watching Jurassic Park.

“The Departed” is a great film…loaded with stellar acting performances molded together by a cinema genius, Martin Scorsese.
