What’s my story?

My name is Ian Agard. I live in Toronto and I am a film producer, script writer, director and founder of Speed Of Sound Entertainment.
My personal mission is to maximize my God-given talents and gifts to entertain and inspire hundreds of millions of people all around the world.
I’ve been working in the North American film industry for six years, however, I started my movie-making journey after watching Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon at the 2000 Toronto International Film Festival. “Watching that movie changed my life forever”. In 2004, I studied acting at HB Studio in New York City and later that year I landed a principal role in the off off Broadway play Fiorello and a supporting role in the short film, The Diploma.
Missing Canada, in early 2005, I moved back to Toronto where I continued studying acting at Seneca College. Throughout 2006 I appeared in a TV commercial for Falls Views Casino and a 1-800-got-junk commercial which aired on a T.B.S. network show of one of the world’s funniest TV commercials for 2006. The year 2007 saw me expanding my acting resume landing roles in two student films, Nothing to Die For and Arthur Moore and the Lone Wolf.
In 2008, I shifted my talents towards writing, directing and producing movies through my production company, Speed of Sound Entertainment (formerly Agardfilm), which I used to produce two ten minute films. Karma (2008) which aired on U.S. television and later secured a distribution deal with Ouat Media and Give (2009), which I both produced and directed. In late 2008, I was selected into the one year Canadian government funded Independent Television Producer’s Program through Centennial College which educates and assists individuals towards becoming successful Canadian film/tv producers and entrepreneurs.
Since then, I have wrote, directed and produced my first feature film Bend & Break(2009) which was released on DVD on December 21, 2009. I have also written the ebook “Stop Waiting and Make Your Movie” which offers emerging feature filmmakers sound advice on how to raise money to make their film-making dreams a reality.
