Filmmaker Spotlight: John Leysath

A+Saga+of+Roses Filmmaker Spotlight: John Leysath

Recently, I connected with an up-and-coming indie film maker from Massachusetts…introducing John Leysath.

John is currently hustling to raise $15,000 via the “crowdfunding” website, Kickstarter.com in order to produce an indie fantasy movie called, A Saga of Roses.

He and his small team have been planning their project for over six months, long before they launched on Kickstarter. They have until 8/8/10 to raise their goal, otherwise they will get nothing. John and his team of creators have already raised $1,015 so far, and they’re working to raise awareness of the project.

A Saga of Roses will be an original, full-length feature film. It is influenced by gothic fantasy, steampunk, anime, American comic books, and video games. It is an action-adventure tale about powerful, magic-using warriors from another world who invade Earth. Human beings, aided by friendly beings from this other world, must learn magic to defeat the invaders.

John has a complete screenplay, thousands of storyboards, concept art, CGI artists, actors, actresses, a music composer, and made a rough, 90-second teaser trailer using hardly any money and consumer-level equipment. What he and his crew lack in money and equipment, they make up for in imagination and ambition. Check out the teaser trailer for A Saga Of Roses below…

Take a few minutes and visit John’s Kickstarter page for his upcoming movie A Saga of Roses. You’ll be able to view videos of the cast and crew for his film and how you can show your support for independent film.
